Microdissectomy

Microdiscectomy is a surgical procedure used to treat a herniated or ruptured disc in the spine. It involves the removal of a small portion of the damaged disc material that is pressing on a nerve root or the spinal cord, thereby relieving pain, weakness, and other symptoms associated with the compression. The "micro" in microdiscectomy refers to the use of specialized instruments and a microscope or magnifying lenses to perform the surgery through a small incision, minimizing damage to surrounding tissues and facilitating a quicker recovery compared to traditional open surgery.

Spasticity Surgery

Spasticity surgery is a procedure performed to reduce or manage muscle stiffness and involuntary muscle contractions known as spasticity. This condition often occurs as a result of neurological disorders such as cerebral palsy, multiple sclerosis, or spinal cord injury. The surgery aims to alleviate symptoms by selectively targeting and modifying nerves or muscles responsible for the abnormal muscle activity. Techniques may include cutting nerves, implanting devices such as baclofen pumps, or lengthening muscles through tendon release procedures. The goal is to improve mobility, reduce pain, and enhance quality of life for individuals affected by spasticity.

Spinal Injury

A spinal injury refers to any damage or trauma to the spinal cord or the bones (vertebrae) that protect it. These injuries can result from various causes such as accidents, falls, sports injuries, or medical conditions. Spinal injuries can lead to symptoms such as pain, weakness, paralysis, loss of sensation, and loss of bladder or bowel control, depending on the location and severity of the injury. Treatment may involve immobilization, surgery, rehabilitation, and therapy to manage symptoms and restore function.

Spinal Dural Fistula

A spinal dural fistula is an abnormal connection between an artery and a vein located within the dura mater, the protective covering of the spinal cord. This condition causes abnormal blood flow, leading to symptoms such as back pain, weakness, numbness, and problems with bowel or bladder function. Treatment typically involves minimally invasive procedures to block the abnormal blood flow and relieve symptoms.
